FORWARD HEALING
Wayne Gretzky famously said, "Skate to where the puck is going, not to where it has been." Do the same with your life. Go where your life is going and meet your newer self there. Regarding healing, all healing that takes place is forward healing. It's not going back to a time in your life when things were better. Consider the quote from Heraclitus, "You cannot step into the same river twice." Not only does the river change, but you do too. Life is incredibly unforgiving regarding its movements, which are always going forward. Like it or not, we cannot go to sleep today and wake up last week, last month, last year, etc.
The train has left the station; the ship has left the port; you have left your past docking station. Moving forward is not negotiable for living things. We forget that we are in a continual process of becoming. We are not just aging. We are evolving, emerging, going through many growth spurts. Some of them are uncomfortable. A woman having her first baby is going through quite an initiation during the birthing process. That specific example may seem extreme except the mother-to-be is going through quite a rite of passage in the birthing process. Is she only birthing a baby? Isn't she also birthing a mother? Isn't she giving birth to her emerging self as well? How does that birthing process feel? We are all giving birth to ourselves with every breath. Some of those birthing processes are more significant or intense, like the process of becoming a mother. The little rites of passage are just as important. Forward Healing is a reminder that "healing" is more of a process of moving well into the next phase of your life. Not all processes of emergence come with growing pains, but all growing pains are indeed active processes of emergence.
As a psycho-technology, Forward Healing offers hope and a process to help people move forward well, to live with more dignity, and to "heal" in brand new ways. If you don't like where you are and you are missing your past life, you may be a prime candidate for Forward Healing. Not in conflict with conventional healing, Forward Healing simply highlights both direction and dignity. You were dealt quite a hand. The cards are still coming. You can become a better player independent of the cards you are dealt. As you accept the cards you are dealt, it changes your hand. If you do not like your cards, you will do well with Forward Healing. The "healing" is in the forward, in the acceptance of the ever-changing forward. It's in the dignity of doing you better, of allowing the emergence of a better you.
