UPDATE CLASS
How do you share the latest updates in Catalyst? You present an Update Class. Looking at how much has emerged within this body of work since 1994 justifies the need to stay current. The latest and greatest insights and approaches have never disappointed. Oppositely, as newer strategies emerge, sharing them transmits the juice that organically comes from its newness. The work is alive and well and continuing to reveal itself. So many of the teachings of Catalyst grew throughout the years. Periodically offering Update Classes keeps the work on its own cutting edge, something it has been doing inspiringly well for decades.
What happens in an Update Class? Besides sharing emerging strategies, attendees give sessions to each other to ask questions and get support in applying the newer approaches. Some of the newer teachings of Catalyst include the Space-Over Effect, the Five W's (who, who, where, what, when), the Disassociation Process, as well as new techniques, such as Dynamic Contouring, one of the newest in a long line of supportive resources available for facilitators. Consider that the first technique in Catalyst is Contour. Now consider how almost 30 years later Dynamic Contouring emerged in direct response to one of the newer psycho-technologies, the disassociation process.
Given the quality of the people who attend an Update Class, newer insights emerge while sharing recently discovered insights. Facilitators who share Catalyst contribute to the evolution of the work by offering firsthand feedback as they practice the newer strategies. The enthusiasm to practice something new pervades the room. The enthusiasm, however, is dwarfed by the enthusiam in the room to receive and experience the newer contributions. You can't blame them. The best form of learning is experiencing. In the Update Class, like the Advanced Class, facilitators and participants receive sessions and share their experiences, relating their experiences back to Catalyst teachings. This form of learning continues to hold up as being the highest form of learning.
