AFFIRMATIONS

Affirmations are concessions. They acknowledge what is. The use of affirmations are highly supportive when well-timed, but they can be detrimental at the wrong times. When speaking a truth that is in deep agreement with the subconscious mind, affirmations are stronger than mantras. When using an affirmation as an intention or a goal to arrive at, mantras are better suited since they begin with the worrds, "I choose..." The subconscious mind can get behind a choice. It cannot, however, get behind an affirmation that is not currently true, but rather a choice that requires a lot of following up. When the subconscious mind is not in agreement with an affirmation, stating that kind of affirmation actually affirms the opposite, what the subconscious mind believes to be true.

Consider the affirmation,. "I am magical, unique, and unlimited and that excites me." It is only supportive to say it if you truly believe it, not if you merely want to believe it. If you truly want to believe it, use a mantra instead, such as, "I choose to see myself as magical, unique, and unlimited." Since well-timed affirmations are stronger than mantras, they do not need to be repeated as often, unless you often forget it.

Here is a list of affirmations to consider. When considering each one, does the subconscious mind believe it? If so, go ahead and affirm it. "No one owns the totality of truth." "There is no ceiling to quality of life imrpovements." "I am perfectly imperfect and imperfectly perfect." "What happens isn't important, how I respond to it is." "What I know pales in comparison to what I don't know." "I don't have to entertain my thoughts just because I'm having them." "There is wisdom inside every situation." "It's happening for me, not to me." "You don't have to agree with me in order for you to be right." "If I focus on the solution, the problem takes care of itself." "The perfection is in the process." "If it's important to you, it's important to me." Again, if any of those affirmations does not also represent the subconscious mind, state it as a mantra and repeat it. For example, "I choose to make what is important to you important to me." And if that is still not true enough, "I choose to learn how to make what is important to you important to me." If that's still not true, "I choose learn how to be a better support system for you."
